Hi Guys! Today I am bringing to you Affordable Beauty Gift Ideas & Recommendations. This is so last minute, but December has really flown by for me and I admit I still haven’t finished my Christmas shopping yet. There are so many gift guide videos and blog posts out there that are really helpful relating to this topic! Still, I thought I would add just a few of my personal recommendations for products that I have tried recently and over the course of this year. Additionally, no product recommended in this post is over $35!
I am also including gifts ideas based on gifts that I am actually giving to the people in my life. This list is definitely not going to be extensive, nor high end. Although, that would be nice, that is not realistic for my budget (just keeping it real). So, let’s get started!
AFFORDABLE SKINCARE GIFT IDEAS
True Moringa Facial Oil ($26)
This oil is AMAZING on my skin. I was first introduced to this oil in my first ever Petit Vour Box. You can check that post out here. This oil does not feel like a typical oil on the skin. It’s not greasy or heavy, just moisturizing and makes your skin feel supple. It also absorbs well into the skin.
On top of all that, it actually fades my acne marks on my skin (my scars are highly pigmented). This also seems to calm my occasional break outs by helping them heal faster. This is one of the best beauty products that I have ever tried for the health and appearance of my skin. I was truly impressed by this product. In fact, it is the only sample that I purchased from my 3 month pre-paid Petit Vour subscription.
Pacifica Good Karma Skincare Set ($17.99)
I included this set mostly because of the facial cleanser and the moisturizer. I think both would work well on most skin types. My skin is sensitive, acne prone, and dry. It gets irritated easily, so I am usually not impressed with most cleansers. Even so, the cleanser in this set has a light scent, cleanses the skin, and removes makeup without drying the skin.
The moisturizer is not greasy and moisturizes well. It absorbs into the skin nicely and it is great to wear under makeup from my experience.
I have this tinted lip balm from another set that I bought in the past. The balm is sheer and moisturizing. The shade appears more of a brownish pink on my lips. But again, the color is sheer so I think it would be universally flattering.
I have only tried the tinted moisturizer once. I must say it gave me more of a glow than any real coverage. The product does contain glitter for those who are wary of that. It is supposed to be a shade matching formula, but the coverage was not enough for me to notice a difference. Even so, I recommend most of the products in this set. It is a good way to test out products to see if it works, before investing in the full size. This was purchased at Ulta.
AFFORDABLE HAIRCARE GIFT IDEAS
Jojoba Oil ($8.39) (for dry hair)
Jojoba Oil has been a staple part of my hair routine in the last few months. My hair is dry, but I have a lot of fine strands. So, my hair is thick and fine. My hair is also SUPER coily. From this description, one would think that I need heavy moisturizes, but I get build up easily. Even so, if I begin my washing routine without coating my scalp and the ends of hair with this oil, my hair becomes a tangled mess.
Give this oil a try if you have dry and tangly hair (seriously). You can also experiment with other oils. I prefer this oil in particular because it is not heavy or greasy, but protects the hair from being stripped by shampoo. The brand I use is Desert Essence, which I purchased here.
Shea Moisture Peace Oil Complex Nourish & Silken Styling Gel-Cream ($10.99) (for dry wavy & curly hair)
This would be a good stocking stuffer for those who have wavy, curly, or highly textured hair. This has been my staple styler for the past several months. It can cause build-up if you use too much. Even so, it’s a light-weight curl-defining styler. The texture is like a creamy serum. The smell of roses is pretty strong and it lingers for days. At first, I wasn’t thrilled with how strong the smell was. But, I am used to it now and I have grown to like the rose scent. I have purchased this from Target and Ulta.
AFFORDABLE MAKEUP GIFTS
Honest Beauty Eyeshadow Trios ($25) & Falling For You Palette ($35)
I really like the texture of Honest Beauty eyeshadows. They are smooth and buttery and they blend so well. I can do a quick look without having to put much effort into blending out the colors. I also don’t notice much fall out from these eye shadows. The eyeshadow trios come in a variety of colors to suit different tastes.
I also threw in the Falling For You Makeup Palette that I did a first impression on here. I think that it is a pretty palette that costs only $10 more than the trios, but you get a blush and 2 lip colors! The colors may not suit everyones taste, but they are reminiscent of the true colors of Fall, which I love.
These can be found on the Honest Beauty website or Ulta.
Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite Set ($25)
I have already done a try-on for these lipsticks, but I will reiterate how much I enjoy them. They are creamy, light-weight, opague, and moisturizing. I love receiving makeup gifts like this because the minis are so cute to me and I love sampling different shades and products in a noncommittal way. It’s also good for experimenting with colors to determine which types of shades are flattering. If you want to learn more about how this set, make sure to check out that post. This was purchased at Sephora.
NAIL GIFT IDEA
Butter | London CHEERfull 6 Pieces Petite Lacquer Collection ($25)
This one is actually a gift for someone (shhh)! I was drawn by the festive packaging and the reputation for the quality of the brand’s nail polishes. It’s a great option because it can actually serve as a gift for two different people. I purchased this at Ulta.
Gilligan & O’Malley Pajama Set ($16.99? & MadLove Booties $22.99)
This is also gift items for someone in my life that I got at Target. I don’t think you can go wrong with a pajama set and these adorable bootie slippers. They are classic Christmas gifts and are still both stylish, cozy, and festive! Luckily I found the link to the bootie slippers online here. The pajamas may still be in store.
If you made it to the end of this post, give yourself a pat on the back! I hope you all have a good Holiday and that you remember that there is always something to be thankful for regardless of how small it may seem.
Some Final Thoughts
I am thankful for the opportunity to express myself on this platform and the capability to do so. This time last year I would have never imagined that I would be blogging or posting videos on YouTube. The idea would have terrified me. At that time I had newborn, I was recovering from a c-section, and I was experiencing some toxic, heartbreaking behavior from some family members. I just remembered thinking that I was supposed to be recovering and enjoying my newborn. I was supposed to be feeling support from my family and sharing the joy of my little gift. Even so, the dysfunction caught up to me big time.
It had gotten to a point where I was scared to make decisions or changes in my life because it would offend some person and that person would create drama. But, those things like other people’s thoughts or behavior towards you are not within your control. In life, there are so many things we cannot control, but we can always choose how we react to such events. We can choose to make the most of what we have. We can also move on when needed.
Expression of Gratitude
Those events, though ugly, made me develop the strength I needed to accept that simple fact. Sometimes we have to let things play out even when we are scared to allow it to and move beyond our comfort zone. We can’t always convince people to respect us, appreciate us, love us, etc. My feelings ranged from denial, to bargaining, to anger, then acceptance. I didn’t want to be fearful or conceal my voice or passively allow people to break me down to the point where I was no longer who I wanted to be.
That revelation encouraged me to put myself out there and create “Momma’s Happy Place.” I wanted to be happy, vibrant, and have healthy relationships and experiences for myself, and especially for my son. I wanted to encourage others to do the same. I wanted to just be. But, I have to give credit where it is due. My faith in God, got me through this. (No imposing here. Just revealing how I coped with this). My faith was my strength.
That being said, one of my personal goals for the new year is to keep my peace and have faith (no matter what is going on around me). For me that has always been a challenge. But every single time, hindsight reveals that it worked out for my good. That humbles me every time. That maybe that ugliness was preparing me for the peace I have right now. Wow this was way off topic. This was supposed to be a “Holiday Gift Guide” right?
Thank you to those who are reading my posts and keeping up with me. This is something I really enjoy doing and I want to improve and do so much more. I just hope that these posts are helpful to someone out there. That is what matters to me! So, tell me. What are some of the things you are thankful for this Holiday season? If you can’t think of anything, what is one thing you can do to make this Holiday season better?
Peace & Blessings
